We photographed the Karner Clayton Young Family last weekend at Helen Hunt Falls in Colorado Springs. It was a beautiful cloudy evening and luckily we finished just before the rain let lose. This family rocked the shoot! They were all so natural in front of the camera like they just took a modeling class before showing up (which… come to think of it… is not such a bad idea if you’re nervous about your own session).
I think this one is my favorite:
About this time last year, my friends Will and Karly were on a plane to Uganda, Africa to bring their daughters home. After many, many, many months filled with paperwork, case studies, fundraising, saving, praying, and planning – along with a few set backs and surprises – their family was finally brought together forever through adoption.
Last weekend, the whole Anderson crew gathered together for family photos at Heritage Square in downtown Phoenix. Between their wonderfully coordinating wardrobes, the beautiful weather, and four silly, giggling cousins, this family session was full of great moments. (I even found myself playing, “Follow the Leader” – or Photographer in this case – with the kids as we marched in line to a new photo location. Good times.)
It’s been about a year since Bobby and Jessika last starred on the blog (for their maternity pictures) and this time around they got to show off sweet little Audrey. And what a cute little star-of-the-show Audrey turned out to be. Full of smiles, giggles, and curiosity, she was such a fun baby to photograph. And Bobby and Jessika (old college friends of mine) are awesome parents! It was fun seeing them in this new role and getting to take pictures of them as they interacted with their little girl.
The stars (and the seasons) really aligned for this photo shoot. Peter and Julia (and baby Kai) are currently stationed in Guam with the U.S. Air Force and they just happened to be in Colorado Springs the same week that we were. In fact, they flew back the morning after their photo session. I’m so glad we were able to capture this beautiful family together before they returned overseas. Not to mention that we were able to do so in such a gorgeous city during a beautiful time of year.
Meet the Bell family. Jacob and Chelsea first met while working together at The Gap. The story goes that Chelsea thought Jacob was cute and boldly put her number in his cell phone, hoping he would ask her out. However, Jacob thought Chelsea was way out of his league and that she was joking with the number thing, so he didn’t call her.
This past week, Jen and I headed to Colorado Springs to scope out our future there (in case you missed it, Devin Hanson Photography is moving to Colorado Springs in a few months). While in town, we got to take some awesome pictures of some awesome families. First up was Donnie, Amber and baby Elias. They live within walking distance of Old Colorado City, so we started there and got some great shots in historic downtown.
As a photographer, it’s always fun seeing a family grow and capturing their special family milestones with my photography. This is my forth photo session with the Kearney Family and my first chance to meet their son, Lucas. I shoot maternity photos for the Kearneys when they were pregnant with their first, Leah, and took Leah’s six-month and one-year portraits. Now I got to see Leah in the roll of “big sister” and you can really tell how much she loves her baby brother.
